I grew up in WV & came to NY to go to college in 1993. I went to school on Long Island. I am now a freelance writer and student. I love to write. I wrote book reviews for an online publication called SexHerald for a year. I have been writing since the age of 12 but only in the past several years did I decide to take my writing seriously and pursue it as a source of income. I am 33 years old. I am Childfree By Choice and I often refer to it as CF. I am interested in and drawn to all things Goth. I am generally Pagan and have a very keen spiritual awareness.I am a vegetarian(NO I DO NOT EAT SEAFOOD!), not vegan, but very nearly. I have been sick since 2000, when I had a nervous breakdown and developed Fibromyalgia. I also have TMJ, ADD and Major Depressive Disorder. I have worked a little here and there, but wasnt able to support myself after 2000 when I got sick, so I became homeless and then got an apt through the homeless shelter system. I have applied for SSI/SSD and been denied and appealed then I just got my letter telling me that my appeal was approved. I have a cat who doesnt live with me sadly. His name is Phoenix and he is an American shorthair, black and white tuxedo cat. He talks a lot and is very affectionate and playful. He will be 7yrs old this summer. I celebrate his birthday around June. I also used to have a sweet little tabby named Jasmine, but she died of FIP and was only about a year old. This stupid government subsidized housing SRO bullshit place that I live in doesnt allow any pets other that fish or some such crap. Anyway I can't cuddle with fish or kiss them and they cant curl up and sleep with me in the winter.Anyway so more about me: I am a writer, I write short stories, essays, poetry, and reviews. I am generally Independent as far as politics. I am enrolled in school online and am pursuing a degree in English. One day I hope to get my Masters. I am very career-oriented and would one day like to start my own website & publishing company. Before I got sick I worked as an Administrative Assistant. I started this live journal to further express my TBOFI's (Thoughts, Beliefs, Opinions, Feelings, & Ideas) & to further expand my writing and become more acquainted with typing my thoughts rather than only relying on writing by hand. I have always thought better on paper, but it is time to advance. I will have some entries that are TBOFI's and that will be the heading, so tune in to them more than once as there are bound to be some changes made periodically. Some of the subjects that I will discuss will be: Spirituality, The Childfree Choice, Pets, Government/Welfare Woes, Writing, Vegetarianism, etc. I now attend the Axia Colege Online, it is a part of The University of Phoenix (no relation to my cat's name). I am divorced my maiden name was Layla Ham. It occurrs to me to include this info just in case someone that I actually care about from the time before marriage would care to find me. I am not googlable with my maiden name, so perhaps this will make it so.
